Color Theory


  1. Define hue: Is the word that best describes color
  2. Define value: Is the relative lightness or darkness of a color.
  3. Define saturation usually one property of three when used to determine a certain color and measured as percentage value. 
  4. How many colors are available on our computers? 16,777,216
  5. Define secondary colora color resulting from the mixing of two primary colors.
  6. Define tertiary colora color produced by mixing two secondary colors

  9. What are the secondary colors in Photoshop? Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow
  10. Define subtractive color model:  subtractive color model explains the mixing of a limited set of dyes, inks, paint pigments or natural colorants to create a wider range of colors, each the result of partially or completely subtracting (that is, absorbing) some wavelengths of light and not others.
  11. Define additive color modelAdditive color is color created by mixing a number of different light colors, with Redgreen, and blue being the primary colors normally used in additive color system
  12. Is RGB additive or subtractive? RGB is additive.
  13. What is the CMYK color model used for? It is used for the color printing and also used to describe the printing process itself.
  14. Define analogous colorsAnalogous colors are groups of three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, with one being the dominant color, which tends to be a primary or secondary color, and one on either side of the color.
  15. Define tintA tint is a mixing result of an original color to which has been added white.

  17. Define neutralNeutral colors are created by combining even amounts of complements to create muddy earthy tones.
  18. Define monochromatic: Literally means "one color". A one-color color schemes. A monochromatic painting shows various values (tints and shades) of the same color. Similar to a black and white photograph. 
  19. What can be said in general about warm colors? Warm colors are made with orange, red and yellow and combination of all of them. As the name indicates, they tend to make you think of sunlight and heat. Warm color looks as though they come closer or advance ( as do dark colors) which is why they often used to make wide room look cozier.
  20. What can be said in general about cool colors? Cool colors might make you think of cool and peaceful things, like winter skies an still ponds

  22. Which color symbolizes royalty? Purple is the color of royalty it symbolizes power.
  23. Which is the color of cleanliness? White is the color of cleanliness, for these reasons Reverence, purity, birth, simplicity, cleanliness, peace, humility, precision, innocence, youth, winter, snow, good.
  24. Which color symbolism freshness? Green because of the color of the fresh nature which is green right when spring starts representing freshness.
  25. Which colors are associated with joy? Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics.
  26. Which color symbolizes passion and danger? Red is the color that symbolizes passion and danger.
